Tile and Grout Cleaning in Charlotte

Is the grout on your kitchen floor darker than the day it was laid? Does the shower look better after you scrub it, but never quite right? Pronto & Carpet cleans tile and grout in your Charlotte home with a rotary tool and our truck-mounted system, so the dirt comes out of the grout lines instead of getting pushed around, and we can seal the grout to help it stay that way.

Call 704.258.9790 or book online, and tell us which rooms you have and what the tile is.

Why tile and grout need professional cleaning

Tile itself wipes clean, but grout does not. Grout is porous, so it soaks up dirt and spills the way carpet does, and every mopping pushes a little more dirty water into the grout lines. Over time the dirt builds up, the tile dulls under a film of residue and wax, and the grout turns dark no matter how hard you scrub. A thorough professional cleaning is the way to remove the dirt that has settled deep in the grout.

Where we clean

We clean tile and grout on kitchen and bathroom floors, in showers, around tubs, on backsplashes, and in the entries and hallways that get the most foot traffic. If you have tile somewhere else, describe it when you call and we will tell you what we can do.

How we clean

We use a high-pressure rotary tool with dual rotating jets, and we combine it with the same truck-mounted steam and pressure cleaning we use to deep clean carpet. The cleaners we use are made for tile and grout. They strip away waxy build-up and loosen the dirt embedded in the grout lines, so the dirt is lifted out rather than spread around.

How a visit works

  1. We look at the floor. We check the type of tile, the condition of the grout, whether it has been sealed and where the trouble spots are.
  2. We clean. The rotary tool and our steam and pressure system work through the tile and the grout lines, one area at a time.
  3. We finish the surface. The dirty water is taken up as we go, so you are not left with a wet, gritty floor.
  4. We seal, if you choose. Sealing is optional, and you pick the type.
  5. We tell you how to care for it. You hear what to use and what to avoid, so the floor stays clean longer.

Sealing your grout

A sealant creates a protective barrier on the grout, which gives you more time to clean up dirt and liquid spills before they soak in. The type of sealant you choose determines how much stain resistance you get. We offer a clear seal and a color seal. If you are not sure which suits your floor, ask us and we will explain the difference. After sealing, use a neutral cleaner on the floor and rinse after mopping, and avoid bleach and other harsh chemical cleaners, which can wear the sealant down early.

Kitchens and bathrooms get dirty differently

A kitchen floor collects food, grease and the traffic of the whole household, and the grout shows it first along the paths people walk. A bathroom collects soap scum, hard-water film and the daily damp of showers and tubs, and the grout around them darkens. The method is the same, and we tell you what we find in each room so you know what to expect.

Getting ready for the visit

Before we arrive, clear small items, floor mats and rugs from the area if you can, and make a note of any trouble spots or stains. Tell us if the grout has been sealed before. We will tell you what else, if anything, needs to be moved and how long to keep the floor clear afterward.

How often, and what to expect

How often you need your tile and grout cleaned depends on foot traffic, children, pets and how you maintain the floor day to day. Kitchens, entries and busy bathrooms collect dirt fastest. Cleaning will not repair cracked tile or missing grout, and a stain that has soaked deep or etched the surface may not come out completely. We are straight about that before we start.

Priced by the square foot

Tile and grout cleaning is priced by the square foot of tile, so the quote comes from the size of the area. Sealing is added to the same quote. If you can, measure the length and width of each room before you call or book online, or give us your best estimate and we will confirm when we see the floor.

TILE & GROUT CLEANING

We clean ceramic and porcelain tile and the grout between it, on floors, in showers, around tubs and on backsplashes. Natural stone such as marble or travertine can be sensitive to some cleaners, so tell us what you have when you call and we will say what we can do before we start. Cleaning will not repair cracked tile or missing grout.
We use a high-pressure rotary tool with dual rotating jets, combined with the same truck-mounted steam and pressure cleaning we use to deep clean your carpet. We use tile and grout cleaners that strip away any waxy build-up and remove the dirt embedded in the grout lines.
For an average-size room, up to 300 square feet, it typically takes 30 to 60 minutes to clean the tile and grout. This can vary with the size of the tile, the amount of soil in the grout lines and the layout of the room. If you choose to have sealant added, it typically takes 2 to 3 hours to complete the entire process.
Grout is a porous material that absorbs soil and spills, just like carpet. A sealant creates a protective barrier that gives you more time to clean up dirt and liquid before they soak into the grout, and the type of sealant you choose determines the degree of stain resistance. We offer a clear seal and a color seal, and we are glad to explain the difference.
It depends on foot traffic, children, pets and how you maintain the floor between cleanings. Kitchens, entries and busy bathrooms collect dirt fastest. Results last longest on sealed grout that is cleaned with a neutral cleaner between visits. We will tell you what we see and suggest a schedule that fits.
Clear small items, floor mats and rugs from the area if you can, and tell us about any trouble spots and whether the grout has been sealed. If you have sealant applied, use a neutral cleaner on your floor afterward and rinse after mopping. Avoid bleach and other harsh chemical cleaners, which can wear away the sealant and make it break down early.
