Area and Oriental Rug Cleaning in Charlotte

Did the dog have an accident on the living room rug? Is the one under the dining table gray along the path everyone walks, or has the family's oriental rug gone a long time without a real cleaning? Pronto & Carpet cleans area and oriental rugs in your Charlotte home, so the rug never has to leave the house.

We check the fiber and test the dye first, then clean with the method that suits your rug. Call 704.258.9790 or book online, and tell us the size and what the rug is made of.

Why rugs need more than a vacuum

A rug takes the same abuse as the floor around it, with fewer ways to hide it. Grit works down into the pile and wears the fibers, body oils and spills leave dark patches, and the paths people walk turn gray while the edges stay bright. A vacuum lifts what sits on top. Cleaning a rug properly means getting to the soil underneath, without hurting the dyes or the fibers that make the rug worth keeping.

What we clean

We clean area rugs and oriental and Persian rugs, including wool rugs, rugs handed down in the family and everyday rugs from a kitchen, entry or nursery. If you have something unusual, such as a very old rug, a silk rug or a rug with a repair, describe it when you call and we will tell you whether we can clean it safely.

Cleaned in your home

We clean your rug where it lies, in your home. The rug stays with you from start to finish, you can watch the work and ask questions as we go, and there is nothing to arrange beforehand beyond clearing the surface. If a rug turns out to be too delicate or too damaged to clean safely at home, we tell you before we start.

How we protect colors and fibers

Every rug is different, so we look before we clean. We check what the rug is made of and test the dye in a spot that does not show, because the dyes in some rugs bleed when they get wet. Wool and other natural fibers can also shrink if they are over-wet, so we go carefully with moisture. If the test tells us a rug will not take cleaning well, we change the method or we say so.

How a visit works

  1. We look at the rug. We check the size, the fiber, the condition and any spots, stains or pet accidents you want us to know about.
  2. We test the dye. A hidden spot shows us whether the colors hold, and we choose the method.
  3. We treat the problem areas. Traffic lanes and spots get attention before the main pass.
  4. We clean. We use hot water extraction, working the rug with a hand tool and pulling the dirty water straight back out.
  5. We add the options you chose. That can mean a deodorizer, a pet enzyme treatment or a protector.
  6. We tell you what to expect. You hear how long drying should take and what to do while it dries.

Options you can add

  • Deodorizer for a rug that has taken on a smell
  • Pet enzyme treatment, which breaks down the source of pet odors instead of covering it
  • Protector, applied after cleaning, so spills sit on the fibers a little longer and you have time to blot them

Pets, kids and everyday accidents

Rugs are where pets and children spend their time, so they collect the accidents. The solutions we use are family and pet friendly. Fresh accidents respond best, so blot a spill from the outside toward the middle with a clean white cloth instead of rubbing, which pushes it deeper and can damage the fibers. Old or repeated pet urine can set into the fibers and the dyes. Cleaning helps, but it may not remove every trace, and we tell you what to expect once we have looked.

Priced by size

Rug cleaning is priced by size, so the number comes from the length and width of your rug. If you can, measure it before you call or book online, or give us your best estimate and we will confirm when we see it.

AREA & ORIENTAL RUG CLEANING

Yes. We clean area and oriental rugs in your home, where they lie. The rug stays with you from start to finish, and you can watch the work and ask questions as we go. If a rug is too delicate or too damaged to clean safely at home, we will tell you before we start rather than risk it.
We clean wool and wool-blend rugs, which are common among area and oriental rugs, after checking the fiber and testing the dye. Silk, very old and fragile rugs need extra care, and some are better left to a rug specialist. If that is the case with yours, we will tell you honestly.
The dyes in some rugs can bleed when they get wet, which is why we test a hidden spot before any cleaning. If a rug does not pass the test, we change the method or tell you that cleaning it at home is not a good idea. We also avoid over-wetting rugs, because wool and other natural fibers can shrink.
We use an enzyme treatment that breaks down the source of pet odors instead of covering them, and fresh accidents respond best. Old or repeated urine can set into the fibers and dyes, so cleaning may not remove every trace or bring back the original color. We will tell you what to expect after we look at the rug.
We clean the fringe along with the rest of the rug, gently, because it is often cotton and can take on color from the rug's dyes when it is wet. Cleaning freshens the fringe and lifts dirt, but it will not repair fraying or other damage.
It depends on the thickness of the rug, its fibers, the humidity and the airflow in the room. We explain what to expect before we leave. Running a fan or the air conditioning helps, and it is best to keep furniture and foot traffic off the rug until it is completely dry.
